How do I report a problem?

Why is the "burn to DVD/SVCD" feature only available on some channels?

Content comes in many different formats. We are still perfecting out ability to "transcode" to formats suitable for burning.

Can I use Kinescope to create my own private channel for a small group of subscribers?

Yes. You can create your own channel using the 'Distribute' tab to attach video internally within Kinescope or to any blog entry. This can be used for small personal channels like home movies, sharing content among friends, or for wider distribution.

Can I create my own schedule of shows and commentary?

If you create a blog, and use Kinescope to attach existing video, you can provide any schedule, shows or commentary you want.

What about DRM? What about piracy?

First of all, Kinescope is media format agnostic. Each channel can distribute content in any format, and a channel can offer the same content in multiple formats. Some channels are free, some channels have a subscription price.

We do our best to preserve everyone's rights. We recognize the established fair use rights of consumers, and encourage content owners to consider DRM options that do not erode established fair use. We also recognize the right of content producers to delivery content in a safe, secure manner, free from piracy.

Our preference is to distribute content in MPEG4 and H.264 formats. These formats offer excellent quality with manageable file size. Our continued ability to deliver content in these simple formats will disappear if our content providers find copyrighted content distributed through Kinescope on free P2P networks. Please help us preserve your fair use rights by using Kinescope content legally and notifying us if you become aware of Kinescope content being illegally distributed.

Please be aware that we may watermark our files with subscriber details in order to identify compromised accounts. This watermarking does not affect content quality and does not restrict fair use of Kinescope content.

Are there commercials?

Some channels have commercials, some do not, this is controlled by the content owner. Apart from the google adwords in an episode's html description, we do not insert commercials, though we may do so eventually in appropriate circumstances.
